Apollo Walnut

Walnut

Description: Apollo is a strong growing variety that crops early in life. The walnuts are large, round thin shelled nuts with pale yellow kernel.

History: Discovered in Czech Republic.

Walnut Growing Tips: Prefer to be planted in full sun or light shade with a sheltered position with no frost pockets. Will tolerate many soil types but are happier in light, sandy, well-drained soils. Walnuts are difficult to establish in the first year of planting and some die-back in the shoot tips is expected. For pickling, the nuts are best picked in July before the shells are formed. Test with a pin or skewer! Rich in antioxidants and omega-3 fatty acids.
