Magnolia salicifolia 'Wadas Memory' (White)
M. kobus x M. salicifolia
Description: A deciduous tree, conical when young, later broad-crowned with lovely reddish-bronze, young leaves, fading to green through summer before finally ageing to gold in the autumn. Produces masses of fragrant semi-double pure white flowers in spring on the bare branches.
History: Named for the esteemed nurseryman K. Wada of Japan.
Care: Full sun to part shade lover, best grown in consistently moist, slightly acidic, well-drained soils. Provide sheltered site as buds and flowers may be damaged by cold winds, and late frosts.
