Description: Huge, fragrant, 12" wide flowers of deep rose-pink opening from port-coloured buds borne before the similarly impressive leaves appear in spring. Slowly makes a compact, upright tree.

History: A hybrid raised by Mark Jury in New Zealand and named after his father. It was first released in 1998. Received the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit in 2013.

Magnolia Growing Tips: Full sun to part shade lover, best grown in consistently moist, slightly acidic, well-drained soils. Provide sheltered site as buds and flowers may be damaged by cold winds, and late frosts. Shape and size can be controlled by pruning which should be done either immediately after flowering or during late summer.
