Snowbell Tree

Description: A weeping form of Japanese snowbell with strictly pendent branches, forming a uniform, very compact habit. Clusters of sweet scented white flowers with gold stamens hang in their masses from June. The glossy dark green leaves turn lovely yellow and red colours in autumn. On older branches the bark splits to reveal orange inner bark providing winter interest.

History: Bred by Crispin Silva from Crispin's Creations Nursery in Oregon, USA.

Styrax Growing Tips: Requires humus-rich but free-draining, lime-free soil in sun or semi-shade, sheltered from cold winds.
