Description: A deciduous tree, often grown as a shrub, with rich bronze-red stem colour. Narrow mid-green leaves are joined by fairly small catkins in late spring.
History: Received the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.
Salix Growing Tips: Suitable for damp places especially. Position to highlight winter sun on stems. Hard pruning in early spring is recommended of those grown for their winter stem colour.
