Syringa vulgaris 'Charles Joly'
Description: A round-shaped small tree or large shrub with a typical erect habit. One of the classic lilacs with single very dark red-purple flower panicles which are highly scented. The purple flowers stand out well against the backdrop of pretty, heart-shaped, mid-green foliage in spring and summer.
History: Received the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.
Syringa Growing Tips: Easy to grow in most well-drained, fertile, humus-rich alkaline to neutral soils. Thrives in chalky ground and appreciates mulching when planted in full sun
