Albizia julibrissin 'Ombrella' ®

Silk Tree

Description: Albizia julibrissin 'Ombrella' ® is an exotic but hardy, small, shrubby tree which is occasionally described as the “Powder Puff Tree”. Delicate feathered foliage that looks especially attractive during the spring. Stunning, dense-headed, deep pink flowers appear from July to September. Quite a spectacular and beautiful small tree. A magnificent variety that will add an exotic feel to any garden.

History: Discovered as a chance seedling at Bourquin Nursery in France. Received an Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society.

Albizia Growing Tips: Grow best in warm, sheltered sites on well drained and even impoverished soils. Easy to train as an informal fan across a south-facing wall or fence. Very suitable for milder parts of the UK but must be protected from frost.
