Description: Arthur Turner is a mid-season Buckinghamshire cooking apple which has large yellow-green fruit and tough skin. Flesh is creamy white, coarse textured, somewhat dry, and acid. A firm baker, makes a well-flavoured golden puree, needing hardly any sugar. A good candidate for early pies as it can be picked green for early use. Known for its exceptional display of attractive light pink blossom in the spring. Good disease resistance with resistance to scab and is reliable in northern areas. A great garden variety and rather popular with commercial growers!
History: Raised and introduced by Charles Turner at Slough, Buckinghamshire, England in 1915. Previously named as 'Turner's Prolific' in 1912 when it received an Award of Merit frmo the Royal Horticultural Society. Renamed in 1913 and received another Award of Garden Merit for it's stunning blossom in 1945.
