Parentage: James Grieve x Golden Delicious
Description: Greensleeves is a reliable mid-season dessert apple. Skin is pale, greenish-yellow with some small dark green patches. Flesh is creamy white, crisp and tangy. A balance of flavours from it's parents; Sweetness and honeyed taste from Golden Delicious and Acidity from James Grieve. A variety thats very easy to grow, heavy cropping and a good pollinator for other varieties. A popular garden variety but sells well in the Farm Shop trade.
History: Raised by Dr Alston at East Malling Research Station, Maidstone, Kent, England in 1996. Received an Award of Garden Merit in 1993 from Royal Horticultural Society. On trial at National Fruit Trials, UK since 1972.
