Fagus sylvatica 'Purpurea Pendula'

Description: ‘Purpurea Pendula’ is a shrubby, weeping, purple-leaved form with a mushroom shape. Its flexible branches adapt well to training, or if left to grow naturally, the weeping branches arch and sprawl to create an impressive, purple-black mound.

History: Developed in Germany in 1865.

Fagus Growing Tips: They will grow in most soils provided they are not waterlogged, and will tolerate most sites except coastal. They prefer full sun or partial shade.
