Princesse Apple

Apple

Description: Princesse is a russet form of King of the Pippins. Heavy cropping green fruits that have a slight russet and are of very good quality. Flesh is crisp and juicy with plenty of acidity, less nutty flavour than Egremont, but easier to grow. Delicious cooked into Tarte Tatin and can also be made into juice or eaten fresh from the tree. A highly recommended garden variety. Produces a mass of attractive white blossom in the spring.

History: Bred in France during the 19th century. Received an Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society in 1993.
