Description: Sandlin Duchess is dual-purpose apple described as an ‘Improved Newton Wonder’. Has a smooth green skin that turns yellow, flushed brown. The fruits have a fine, tender, creamy green flesh with a juicy, slightly sweet flavour. When cooked, it breaks down to a well flavoured yellow puree.
History: Raised in Sandlin, Malvern, UK in 1880 and introduced by William Crump, HG at Madresfield Court, Worcestershire in 1914. Received an Award of Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society.
