Medium-large, pale green fruits changing to yellow, some fruits have a red flush. Pale yellow flesh has rich juicy flavours. Recognised for superb eating quality but needs a good pollination partner, see below. Best when trained against a wall or fence as it needs a warm sheltered site. Grown commercially throughout the world, but on a small scale in the UK. History: Raised at the Comice Horticole, Angers, France during the 19th Century. Introduced to the UK in 1858 by Sir Thomas Dyke Acland. Recieved an Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society.
