M. liliiflora ‘Nigra’ x M. veitchii

Description: A magnificent small to medium sized tree with dark green foliage. Tulip shaped, heavily flushed dark pink or rose-purple flowers with a magenta stripe at the base. Richly scented this is one of the finest of the ‘Gresham Hybrids’.

History: Bred by Todd Gresham. Received the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit in 1993.

Magnolia Growing Tips: Full sun to part shade lover, best grown in consistently moist, slightly acidic, well-drained soils.
