Physocarpus opulifolius ‘Diablo’ Ninebark

Description: A stylish deciduous shrub or small tree grown for its rich purple foliage. Produces pretty pink flushed white flowers on arching branches in early summer, followed by glossy red seed heads in autumn. When plants reach maturity the bark peels away in layers, creating another layer of interest in the winter.

History: Native to eastern north America. Received the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.

Physocarpus Growing Tips: Grows best in acidic, moderately fertile, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil in sun or partial shade. Prune regularly to encourage colourful new growth.
