A tree that has been grown in the field and then lifted out of the ground when dormant. Available from November to March. The roots are more open and the direct contact with the soil encourages them to settle in and establish more readily.
These are 2yr old trees that have been grown 1yr in the field and the second in a pot. Container trees can be planted at any time of the year but establish best when planted during the autumn and need to be watered well during the first summer.
Pear
Heavy cropping, brown russetted, small fruits with a juicy flesh. A pleasant light perry. Crops from an early age.
Very reliable, heavy cropping variety. Fruit yellow with heavy flush. Makes a medium acid/tannin perry.
Small, pale greenish-yellow with bright red flush. Crops heavily, can bear biennially. Tree is small-medium.
A small general purpose pear for perry, bottling, stewing and possibly eating if stored long enough.
A rare but excellent variety for resistance to scab and canker with good keeping quality and medium acid and tannin.
Olive green-yellow fruits with orange flush. Makes a high acid and low tannin perry of good quality.
Heavy crops of round, greenish-yellow fruits. Makes a medium tannin perry of average quality.
Yellowish-green or yellow with a russet around the stem end. Medium acid, low tannin for a pleasant, light quality perry.
A medium sized tree with narrow crown in the early years. Pyriform fruit greenish-yellow, russet cheek.
Heavy cropers of low acid and low tannin perry pears of good average quality. Keeps well after harvest.
From the village of Taynton. Greenish-yellow fruits, medium acid and tannin. Rare and of some distinction.
Small tree with upright habit and multi spur systems. Abundant crops of small yellow fruits with some russet.
