RHS Badminton: Combining ornamental beauty with edible harvests

This week – 8-11 July, we are thrilled to be exhibiting at the inaugural RHS Badminton Flower Show. Located in the Floral Marquee at Stand FM145, our display celebrates one of the most exciting trends in modern gardening: the rise of the “Edimental” landscape—where striking ornamental beauty meets a rich, edible harvest.

Featuring fruit trees, trained fruit, flowering crab apples, figs, vines, soft fruit and ornamental edible (Edimental) plants including Cercis, demonstrating how productive landscapes can provide food, support biodiversity, and deliver interest and visual appeal. What is an “Edimental”? A seamless fusion of edible and ornamental. It’s the philosophy that your garden doesn’t need a separate, hidden veg patch. Instead, fruit-bearing trees and structural food crops are woven directly into your design to look spectacular while feeding you and local wildlife.

Our display reimagines the productive garden, showing how small and large spaces alike can maximize food production, boost biodiversity, and deliver year-round visual appeal:

• Trained Fruit Trees: Space-saving espaliers, cordons, and step-overs that bring structural elegance to walls and boundaries.
• Crab Apples, Figs & Vines: From early spring blossoms that pollinators adore to the dramatic, architectural leaves of heavy-fruiting figs.
• Ornamental Edibles: Star varieties like Cercis (Judas Tree), which features stunning pink spring flowers that double as a crisp, tangy addition to summer salads.

By blending these varieties, you create a vibrant, multi-layered ecosystem that supports bees and birds while providing a sensory, restorative space for yourself.
