Pear

Description: Thorn is a small tree with upright habit and multi spur systems. It produces abundant crops of small yellow fruits that have a slight orange flush and some russet. The perry vintage is average to good with medium acid and low tannin. Stunning clusters of white flowers during the spring.

History: Discovered in Gloucestershire in 1670. At this time, it was widely planted in the north-west of Gloucestershire for its dessert and culinary purposes but is now considered too astringent.
