Description: Acer platanoides 'Crimson King' is a very popular, handsome Acer variety. It's a round-headed, medium-sized fast growing tree. Other comparable purple-leaved forms are Acer ‘Goldsworth Purple’ and Acer ‘Royal Red’. Received an Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society.

History: A seedling of 'Schwedleri' raised in Belgium in 1937.
