Winnal Longdon (Perry)
Description: Winnal Longdon produces a heavy crop of small greenish yellow fruits that have a slight red flush and light russet. Makes a medium to high acid low tannin perry. The tree itself can be biennial, well-shaped with small branches. Pretty white blossom appears during the spring.
History: Raised by Mr. Winnall of Woodfield, in the parish of Western-under-Penyard in Herefordshire during the 1790s. The first orchard it was planted in was called 'Noaks Style'. Now found planted in orchards between Ross-on-Wye and Tewkesbury.
